On Stage

we are continuous

By Cesar A Reyes

San Diego Premier at the Diversionary Theater

Before Simon came out, his mother Ora was his best friend and biggest supporter. But now there is an ocean between them about things that cannot be spoken, especially concerning his father. After a life-changing secret comes to light, will the family’s bond survive? The play is a poignant exploration of identity, love, and the invisible threads that connect us. An evocative, heart-wrenching journey about the complexities of love and the bonds that define us.

Three lead actors give life to the play and we are excited to chat with them: Marti Gobel who plays the Mother/Ora, Elliot Sagay who plays the Son/Simon, and Eli Wood who plays the Husband.  (click on the image to read the full interview)

Ms. Gobel is a proud San Diego Native. She is an actor, director, and a John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts-trained Teaching Artist. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a degree in Performance Art and Philosophy, she went on to have a rich career in television and film.

Mr. Sagay  is an actor and playwright from Orange County, CA. He is thrilled to be making his Diversionary Theatre debut. He is currently a second-year student at the University of California, San Diego working towards his MFA in Acting. As a playwright, Mr. Sagay is a recipient of the Agnes Nixon Playwriting Festival Award and had a play published in Black Lives, Black Words which is an anthology of plays dedicated to black empowerment. Aside from the arts, Mr. Sagay is a devoted Manchester City supporter and avid baker.

Mr Wood grew up in Pennsylvania and attended the U.S. Naval Academy. He served in Washington, D.C. and Japan before arriving in San Diego. It was here that he reentered civilian life and began performing as a professional actor.
