 TDoE Amber St. James

By JP Emerson

Please introduce yourself (tell us a little about who you are what you do)?
My name is Amber St. James. I work with San Diego Pride to help curate some of the amazing resource spaces at the festival and help to support our year-round programs with our cherished community partners.

Please tell us about becoming involved with the Transgender Day of Empowerment:
I became involved with the Transgender Day Of Empowerment a few years ago, mostly helping here and there with small tasks. Then last year, I really leaned in by helping to generate marketing and helping to coordinate scholarships under the guidance of Miss Tracie Jada O’Brien. This year, I am so excited to continue working alongside the many other committee members to bring about a vibrant and empowering program.

What is the importance of empowering our Transgender community and for the individuals to feel empowered?:
To me, the importance of empowerment is the potential for collective power. Empowerment helps create a community that can come together and make the changes that will build the better world we envision for our vibrant futures.

How can folks get involved with San Diego Pride (talk about your organization and the ways people can support)?:
Folks can get engaged with San Diego Pride in many different ways, from volunteering with us (both at the parade and festival) and supporting our year-round work. Folks can learn about our programs and our advocacy work by visiting our website https://sdpride.org/ or just stopping by our office in North Park and lending a hand.

The WORD is unstoppable love!
