The Dykes and Their Friends Between Revolutions
By Nicole Verdes
Between every revolution, there are people holding everything together — organizing, showing up, and bringing the community together. For decades, lesbians and queer women have been those people for San Diego’s LGBTQ+ community, and this series is our love letter to them.
The Dykes and Their Friends Between Revolutions centers the stories, wisdom, and legacies of the women who fought for our rights, built our institutions, protected our most vulnerable, and cared for all of us.
And of course, no revolution happens alone. This series also makes space for the friends, allies, and fellow travelers who showed up alongside them…because the bonds between dykes and their friends have always been part of what makes this community so resilient.
Our first event features Chicana lesbian activists Teresa Oyos and Carolina Ramos in conversation, moderated by Liliana Hueso. Click images to view full interviews
