Please introduce yourself?

My name is Jesse Greika aka Glitz Glam but known by most as GG. I am the Manager & Events Director at Urban MO’s Bar & Grill

What should people know about the HIV-positive community:

I was given 10 years to live when diagnosed in 1996. As a long term survivor, HIV Education & Prevention is a cause close to my heart. With PREP (pre-exposure prophylaxis)/PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) now available, there should be no new cases of HIV. We truly have the tools to be the generation to end this epidemic. More than that, I am passionate about breaking the stigma for those living with HIV. It is not a death sentence; I am living proof you can still have a fulfilling life. And for the love of God, stop using the word “clean” to describe your HIV/STI status. With that being said, know your HIV/STI status! Get checked regularly and repeat after me: Undetectable = Untransmittable.

The importance of being involved in events and organizations that give back to the
community? 

We are headed into uneasy times with this new administration coming in. It’s important more than ever to pay it forward in your community. We may not have finances but we can always find time to give ourselves over to a cause or event. With the looming threat of grants and funding cuts, we need to show up and be a light for others. Especially with organizations like POZabilities that rely a great deal on private contributors. People need people and, when you show up, so will others.
